About the Book

Nurturing the Nurturer is about the often-invisible cost of caring for someone you love. Drawing from Eric Lim’s own experience of becoming a caregiver to his father at just twenty-four, the book explores the love, exhaustion, guilt, grief and loss of self that can come with caregiving.

What makes the book especially relevant is its understanding of the cultural forces that often make self-care difficult—filial duty, guilt, family expectations and the fear of appearing selfish or inadequate. Combining Eric Lim’s deeply personal story with his expertise in mindfulness and sleep wellness, the book is a practical guide for caregivers seeking rest, resilience and a way to continue caring without losing themselves in the process.

“Eric Lim’s deeply personal account shines a compassionate light on the realities of caregiving while offering practical guidance to help caregivers care for themselves. His message reminds us that caregivers need not walk this journey alone. Caring for ourselves, and ensuring caregivers are supported by family, community, and society, enables them to continue giving their best to those they love.”
