I learned to care for someone I loved long before I learned to care for myself.

But what happens when the person who gives the most has nothing left to give?

Nurturing the Nurturer is about the often-invisible cost of caring for someone you love. Drawing from Eric Lim’s own experience of becoming a caregiver to his father at just twenty-four, the book explores the love, exhaustion, guilt, grief and loss of self that can come with caregiving.

Nurturing the Nurturer is published by Penguin Random House SEA on 20 October 2026. Paperback will be available at the Book Bar, Kinokuniya Singapore. The eBook edition will release globally via Amazon, Kobo, OverDrive, Google Books.

About Me

I help people develop a healthier relationship with sleep through mindfulness and evidence-based sleep wellness approaches, so they can thrive in their lives even while managing life's challenges.

In 2013, at twenty-four, I became a caregiver. I was not ready. Few of us are.

My father had three strokes, and vascular dementia followed. For the years I cared for him I learned what caring costs when no one teaches you what those would be. I lost sleep. I lost myself for a while. Slowly, I found my way back, and found tools that sustained my caregiving journey..

Now I teach mindfulness and advocate for satisfying sleep, helping others carry what I once carried alone.
